Thanks Michael. Yep, any time you can trick your mind into paying extra attention or getting out of its comfort zone, is a good thing!

Excellent tips. I know I've made these same mistakes before (I think we all have - or you don't write enough) Heather gives some excellent tips on how to minimize them. I like the waiting a few hours or a day but that isn't always an option if you are up against a deadline so I really liked the "reading it backwards" part.

Welcome, Robert. I do wonder if Twitter has legs. Will it still be a factor in 2 years? It just seems that with the brisk pace of new social media fads, as you called it, coming on stream, there won't be enough room for all of them to survive. Will short bursts of information lose their novelty? Or will tweets get even shorter? Say, 12 word maximums? Gawd forbid...

Hey Heather

Just stumbled upon your site. Had the initial apprehension of a business competitor, but really liked a lot of what you are saying.

Just wanted to pipe in on this Twitter fad. Maybe I'm crazy but when I was growing up, (most kids these days have a very different lexicon than I), "twit" was not a good thing. Just can't bring myself to be a twit. I did notice they call them tweets. How cute. Bring on the next fad please.

Heather,

Thank you for including me in your post. And I agree with you -- you don't *have* to be on Twitter.

Absolutely. First, contact the webmaster of the offending site and let them know you know what they did. Not giving you credit for your work is theft, pure and simple. Ask them to remove the article or attribute it properly. If they refuse to act or just ignore you, then you can bring the offense to Google's attention (and other search engines, but Google is number one, of course.) They hate duplicate / stolen content almost as much as we do because it corrupts the search results. Tell the offending site you've alerted Google. Tell them you are consulting with a copyright lawyer. And good luck.

I have written several articles and posted them on internet article directories. All directories I have posted on state that if others wish to use the article they must place the author's link/s along with the article. I have found a website that used my article and did not give me any credit (including adding my name). Is there anything I can do about this?.

You are absolutely correct! The problem with website owners is, they are unaware that writing for the web is as creative as designing. Content writing isn't a mechanical job, and copywriters aren't mere typists!

Unless online entrepreneurs realize it, it would be difficult for them to succeed in their online ventures.
